The tenure of a governor is eight years and I will have my eight years- Ortom

Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has vowed to retain his seat for a second term against all odds.

The Governor said this to newsmen yesterday following the anouncement of the defeat of former Governor, George Akume, who lost his senatorial seat to a House of representatives member, Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev.

The Governor said he had kept his promise of retiring the senator and said he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship elections because the tenure of a governor is eight years.

“Have I said anything and not done it? I work with God and He has always seen me through. This is how it would be during the Governorship election. The tenure of a Governor is eight years and I will have my eight years. Just watch and see,” Ortom said.

The governor who has not commisioned any project during his tenure and owes several months of salaries, pensions and gratuity faces a herculean task of convincing the electorate to vote for him.
