OYO SOUTH: AJIMOBI GRABS APC TICKET AS AKANBI ATTENDS ADC SCREENING
As the main activity formalising the nomination of prospective candidates into various elective posts for the forthcoming general elections, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Oyo South senatorial district.
Ajimobi became the standard bearer of the party after polling 2,695 votes ahead of his sole contender, Dr. Fola Akinosun, who got 168 votes.
Announcing the result of the primary, Mr. Demola Seriki, the chairman of the electoral panel affirmed Ajimobi as the winner having garnered the highest number of votes cast in the exercise.
The winner was the only senator of the moribund Alliance for Democracy, AD, from the state to the 5th national assembly while most candidates of the party including the late former Governor Lam Adesina lost in the 2003 general elections.
Meanwhile, the senator representing Oyo South senatorial district, Riliwan Adesoji Akanbi on Wednesday, joined fellow aspirants on the platform of the invigorated African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the screening exercise of the party.
Akanbi who lost the ticket of the APC to Governor Abiola Ajimobi was seen at Premier Hotels, Ibadan, amongst other national and gubernatorial aspirants across the 5 geopolitical zones of the state for the clearance to partake in the primary elections of the party.
