N1 billion campaign funds tears APC apart in Benue
All is not well within the camp of the Benue State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the diversion of N1 billion released to the state chapter of the party for the governorship election.
According to an insider, apart from the security agents that were made available to the leadership of the the party in the state to rig the February 23rd governorship and State Assembly elections, the sum of N1 billion was also released to the party in the state.
The funds which were meant to be used to prosecute the election were however diverted, with the leader of the party in the state, Senator George Akume going home with N300 million, the governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime cruising home with N140 million, his Deputy, Sam Ode 60 million, and campaign DG, Jack Gyado took 70 million.
Party stalwarts like Terhemen Tarzoor, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav Aliegba, Arc. Asema Achado, Solomon Wombo, Chief Mimi Orubibi, etc were given N10 million each.
Trouble however started when they failed their supporters by pocketing the money and not delivering the votes.
Jack has just bought a brand new landcruiser jeep from the campaign funds. Jime was arrested with over 40million on election day while senator Akume has resumed construction work on his polytechnic in wannune.
The source disclosed that the over N40 million recovered frome Jime through his driver on election day was as a result of a tip off to the EFCC from an APC member who was not happy with the way the N1 billion was diverted into the pockets of a few, leaving many members of the party with nothing.
The National leadership of the party is also not happy with the state chapter of the party for failing woefully despite meeting all they demanded for in other to deliver the state to the party.
