Oshiomhole declares war on Akume, Jime, Benue APC leaders over Ortom’s victory
Nigerian Concord Newspaper can authoritatively report that the National chairman of the APC and former Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has declared a brutal war on the Benue leader of the party who is also former governor of the state, Senator George Akume, over what he termed as “an avoidable loss” which the party suffered in the last governorship election.
Other people who are presently tasting the wrath of Oshiomhole over the party’s defeat at the last governorship election are the party’s candidate, Barrister Emmanuel Jime, and some of the party’s leaders in Benue state who are loyal to Senator Akume.
According to a top official of the APC in Abuja who confided in our reporter early this morning, Adams Oshiomhole had alleged at different meetings in Abuja that the party’s leaders in Benue state caused its defeat as a result of their failure to utilize the over N4 billion which was released to them through the Interior Minister, Alhaji Dambazzau, and President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari, for the purpose of manipulating the election.
Oshiomhole’s anger according to the top APC official in Abuja forced him to say it in the media at the weekend that: “We lost Benue due to some selfish big wigs in Benue APC frustrating governor Ortom’s government, which made Ortom to defect from our party.”
According to Oshiomhole, Benue state would still have remained in the hands of the APC if Governor Samuel Ortom was not frustrated by Akume and others to the extents that he left the party for the PDP few months to the election.
Oshiomhole, according to the top APC official in Abuja had maintained that all the lies of non-performance and funds diversion which were reported to the party’s headquarters in Abuja was just a ploy to perfect his exit from the party so as to create a chance for their own person to fly the flag of the APC at the election.
It was gathered by this newspaper that Oshiomhole said he wondered why it was only after the governor had spent over three years on his seat that the party’s leaders in Benue then remembered that he didn’t perform.
The national chairman was quoted to have said that he will frustrate all those that contributed to Governor Ortom’s exit as well as APC’s defeat in Benue state out of the party immediately after President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration on May 29, 2019 because according to him, losing Benue state is as bad as losing the entire North Central.
The chairman was also quoted as saying that the conspiracy against Samuel Ortom had taught him a great lesson, stressing that no fictitious petitions against any serving governor of the APC will be entertained henceforth without being subjected to a proper investigation.
Oshiomhole also said that he almost succeeded in making Governor Ortom to remain in the APC when he invited him to his office in Abuja for a briefing, but some leaders of the party in Benue came with their plans which eventually led to his exit.
According to Oshiomhole, claims by Governor Ortom that some leaders of the party in the state were behind the ‘avoidable challenges’ he faced when he was still in the APC had been substantiated as a result of his great performances like prompt payment of salaries, massive infrastructures and others since he rejoined PDP
However, a top official of the party in Benue state who confided in our reporter this morning also hinted that Adams Oshiomhole has been frustrating all the efforts of the Benue APC to get some financial backing from the party in Abuja as well as the Presidency in order to pursue its case at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi.
The official said that Oshiomhole had based its opposition to the release of any funds to the state chapter of the party on lack of trust that such funds will not be hijacked like the previous campaign funds.
According to the official, Oshiomhole is an enemy of the APC, saying that his reign as national chairman had caused a lot of confusion in the party.
Saying that the former Edo state governor is not fit to be national chairman, the official said that it was when he came on board that Governor Ortom, Ambode, Yahaya Bello, Ajimobi, Okorocha and Amosun had problems with their state chapters of the party.
He also noted that it was the bad leadership of Oshiomhole that is causing serious problems for the governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, stressing that the Ondo state governor is already on his way out of the APC.
He said: “What offence has the performing governor of Ondo state committed to have warranted the ill treatment they are giving him now?
” To the best knowledge of everyone, Mr. Akeredolu has performed excellently well in the last three years. The roads he had constructed within three years are more than what his predecessor, Mr. Mimiko, did for eight years.
“Why are they frustrating such man (Akeredolu) out of the APC as a result of their selfish interest?
“What makes them think that any candidate they raise In Ondo state will be able to defeat Akeredolu as a result of his performances ranging from prompt payments of workers salaries to massive infrastructural projects”
He said that Ambode almost left the party like Ortom did if not for the timely intervention of the party’s leaders in Abuja.
According to the official, Imo, Oyo and Zamfara states lost governorship to the PDP as a result of Oshiomhole’s highhandedness.
He also noted that the APC will not have any peace for as long as Oshiomhole remains its national chairman.
Speaking further, the Benue APC top official accused Oshiomhole of being the brain behind all the crises which the party is having In all the states of the federation.
He added that the entire Southwest chapters of the party has been engulfed with series of crises as a result of Oshiomhole’s highhandedness.
