Appeal Court Judgement: Kayode Ojo hails Fayemi, APC over victory
The APC Chieftain and former governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Engr. Kayode Ojo, has congratulated Governor Kayode Fayemi on his victory at the Appeal Court.
He described the appeal court’s judgment delivered in Abuja on Thursday revalidating his July 14, 2018 victory as a consolidation of democracy dividends to the people of the state.
The Appeal Court on Thursday upheld the election of Fayemi as the democratically elected governor of Ekiti state.
This followed a judgment earlier delivered at the Tribunal on a petition brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Kolapo Eleka, challenging the decision of the Tribunal, which upheld Dr. Fayemi’s election.
Reacting to the judgment, the APC Chieftain in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, said that the Appeal Court’s verdict was a victory for democracy and the good people of the state, whom he said gave the APC-led government of Governor Fayemi the mandate to lead the state.
He said Fayemi had justified the mandate by showing tremendous goodwill and support to its noble vision in advancing good governance and impact positively on their lives as true heroes of democracy.
Ojo while thanking God for the victory, appreciated the judiciary for rising up to its solemn responsibility of ensuring that justice prevails, stressing that the judgment was a clear indication that the third arm of government is the last hope of the common man.
“I therefore call on few persons who may still be aggrieved to drop their differences in the interest of the state and join hands with our visionary governor to move Ekiti state forward.
“Our governor as a man of peace is ever ready and willing to accommodate all shades of interests in line with his administration’s peace and development initiatives.”
