President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has significantly moved up in the list of Word’s wealthiest individuals.
He moved up from position 103 to position 64 with an estimated net worth of $16.6billion.
Dangote who has been Africa’s richest man for eight years was the only Nigerian in the list that contained 500 billionaires from around the world. This was published by Bloomberg in its last week’s yearly Billionaires list.
Jeff Bezos remains the richest in the world with an estimated net worth of $136billion.
Americans, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett followed as second and third with $98.4billion and $83billion, respectively on the world billionaires’ chart which is dominated by North Americans.
Forbes Magazine in its start-of-the-year Billionaires list placed Dangote’s fortune at $10.6billion although he still topped in Africa.
The 61-year-old owns cement and petroleum businesses which supply many parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.
